The 58th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2017)

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in a different country.  The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with 7 countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 100 countries from 5 continents. The IMO Advisory Board ensures that the competition takes place each year and that each host country observes the regulations and traditions of the IMO.

The 58th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2017) was held from July 12 to 23, 2017 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  More than 600 talented young students from more than 100 countries around the world gathered to solve challenging mathematical problems in a friendly competition.

Our ex-student (graduated in 2015), Ivan Chan Kai Chin, has brought pride and accomplishment to our country and school by winning the silver medal in the competition.  His world ranking is 82 over 615.  Congratulations to Ivan and the teacher-in-charge, Mdm. Lau Mi Mi.
