RETIREMENT CEREMONY OF MISS LEE SIEW LENG
Miss Lee Siew Leng completed her primary and secondary education at Methodist Girls’ School. After completing her Form Five, she worked for a few years at Hewlett Packard Electronics Company, Bayan Lepas for a few years before she went to Batu Lintang Teachers’ College in Kuching, Sarawak in 1983 to undergo a three-year teacher training programme.
Miss Lee Siew Leng started teaching in January 1986 until February 1988 at SMK Sungai Paoh in Sarikei, Sarawak. She came to Heng Ee High School on 1st March 1988 and was asked to teach the Remove Class students English Language and Amalan Bahasa Inggeris.
While in Heng Ee High School, Miss Lee Siew Leng decided to further her education through distance learning in order to expand her knowledge about the teaching of English Language so as to help her young charges, the Remove Class students, improve their English Language proficiency.
In 2002, Miss Lee Siew Leng graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL ( Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages ) from the Regional Language Centre, Singapore and in 2005 she graduated with the Master of Applied Linguistics ( TESOL ) from Macquarie University, Australia.
From 1988 until her retirement, effective from the 1st of January 2014, Miss Lee Siew Leng has taught English for 26 years in Heng Ee High School, a school which she loves and one that brings out the best in her, as she discovered her niche in teaching students to learn to read so that they can read to learn. All in all, Miss Lee Siew Leng has 27 years and 10 months of creditable teaching service.
