The function was hosted by SMJK Ave Maria Convent, Ipoh as follows:

This scholarship fund was initiated by the Rotary Club of Ipoh in 1971. Secondary schools in Kinta District contributed to this trust fund, and the Rotary Club would match Ringgit for Ringgit towards their contributions. The interest earned from the amount of money collected would be used annually to provide scholarships to poor students. 12 schools participated in this programme. 13 girls from SMJK Ave Maria Convent are beneficiaries of this award.
