A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

MADAM LOW LAI KHUN

Greetings from Catholic High School and welcome to our website. We hope you will access more specific information about our school through the links provided. Catholic High School has a distinguished history of providing excellence in education for all of our students. At Catholic High, our 2679 students are provided with the best possible facilities and learning environment. From its humble beginnings of borrowed classrooms in 1956, Catholic High School has grown greatly in stature and today she is an educational complex comprising six blocks of classrooms, workshops and laboratories, a comfortable reading corner and canteen, a lecture theatre, a large air-conditioned school hall and a sports centre. Moreover, the 150 Catholic High School staff is known for their teaching skills and dedicated efforts to ensure the success of each and every student. We cultivate a passion for learning, providing each student with opportunities to excel. We prepare all students to be life-long learners to fulfil their potential to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Throughout the years, Catholic High has been receiving awards for being the school with the best results in all major school examinations such as the PT3, the SPM and the STPM. As such, it is one of the most sought-after schools in Selangor Darul Ehsan. Furthermore, the students at Catholic High excel in co-curricular activities due to the moral support, training and infrastructure provided by the school. The newly completed RM 3 million sports centre with basketball courts, squash courts, a table-tennis hall and activity rooms is testament to the importance the school places in sports and co-curricular activities. Our school brass band and our Chinese debating team are national champions; our swimmers, squash players and other athletes represent the nation at international meets and our students excel in Mathematics and oratorical competitions at both national and international levels. During a short span of sixty-three years the school has produced men and women of distinction having excelled in many and diverse disciplines spread out in many parts of the world. They carry with them the characters moulded in them during their school days. At Catholic High, we consider it our mission not only to produce young men and women who excel in the academic and co-curricular domains but young people of integrity and character. We emphasise character development as we believe that ‘The aim of education is the knowledge not only of fact, but of values.’ – Dean William R. Inge. Each student should be nurtured into developing his potential as an individual and as a contributing and responsible member of the society who will think rationally, feel deeply and act wisely. Catholic High School is also blessed to have the support and co-operation of the Marist Brothers, the Board of Governors, the Parent-Teacher Association, the Old Boys’ Association, the parents and the teachers. It is the collaborative effort of all the parties involved that has brought about success and excellence to Catholic High School. We are confident that Catholic High will scale greater heights of achievement in all fields of endeavour as we continue to provide the fine quality of education we have been giving our students.
