Going Further
This chapter has taught you the rudiments of email by illustrating
use of a popular web mail service.
We have only discussed the basics. For more details, check
the help at Yahoo or of whatever email program you are using.
There are other options besides web email. For example,
many prefer to use their browser's mail interface or a standalone
email program such as Eudora
or Outlook.
If you decide to use a program like Eudora or Outlook, you
will find that its usage, and even much of the layout of
the interface, is very similar to that described here.
Those with accounts on larger computers may choose to
send and receive mail there, perhaps using programs like
Pine that allow remote access by Telnet
or serial modem connections. Although the mail interface
may then look quite different from the graphical interface
examples described here, the general principles related
to composing, sending, and reading messages will remain
similar.
