4. System Backups

Tape back-up systems are very reliable and can be installed into servers. CD Burners are finding their way into many schools as a mechanism for backing up records and also storing the huge files that being produced through scanning images and the taking of digital pictures. The CD Burner allows you to store information on a CD. A CD can store up to 650Mb per disk.

Backing up and storing information on CD's is now a viable alternative. The CD recording has come into its own in backing up hard drives and for storing images for the school magazine and for students to use in their graphics work. It is also ideal for storing images for younger students. These can then be used as starters for story writing, science units, social science issues or art lessons. Better still: if you can afford to use them in tandem with a multi media projector you have a great tool for getting students to discuss and develop new ideas based on these images.
