Mr Aw had his primary school education at Phor Tay Chinese Primary School in 1962.He then had his secondary school education at Chung Ling High School.After sitting his M.C.E. Examinations in 1973,he continued his Form Six education in Chung Ling.He attained his H.S.C. Certificate in 1975.After which,he continued his tertiary education at U.S.M. In 1976.He attained his Bachelor degree with Education in 1980 majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics.
He was first posted to Sek. Tun Syed Sheh Shahabudin in Bukit Mertajam on 28-4-1980. He taught Chemistry in Matriculation for 8 years.
            In January 1989,he got a transfer to SMK Tunku Puan Habsah. He taught Additional Mathematics for 5 years.
            On 1-12-1993,he was posted to Heng Ee High School where he served for almost 22 years until his retirement, effective from 15th July 2015. He was a Science and Mathematics teacher in Heng Ee. In extracurricular activities, he was the chief teacher advisor of the school Fire Brigade, volleyball club and Green House.
